Waze is owned by Google LLC, and operates as a subsidiary within Google’s mapping and geo-related businesses.
Ownership
Google acquired Waze in June 2013 in a deal valued at around 1.1–1.3 billion US dollars. Since then, Waze has remained part of Google’s corporate structure as a distinct subsidiary focused on community-driven navigation and traffic data.
Relationship with Google Maps
Although Google owns Waze, the app continues to run under its own brand and app experience rather than being fully merged into Google Maps. Some Waze features, such as user-reported incidents and real-time traffic insights, have influenced or been integrated into Google’s broader mapping products.
