Yahoo is currently owned by Apollo Global Management, a private equity firm, which acquired it from Verizon in a $5 billion deal completed on September 1, 2021. Verizon retained a 10% stake in Yahoo after the acquisition. Prior to this, Verizon had acquired Yahoo's core internet business in 2017 for $4.48 billion but later sold it to Apollo. Today, Yahoo operates as a standalone company under the ownership of Apollo, with Jim Lanzone as CEO since 2021.
