Additionally, in a later campaign for president in 2024, Kamala Harris revealed in her memoir that her first choice for a running mate was Pete Buttigieg, the former Transportation Secretary, but she ultimately picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, considering the political risks involved with their ticket.
