King Solomon was the third king of Israel and the son of King David and Bathsheba. He reigned approximately from 970 to 931 BCE and is most famous for building the First Temple in Jerusalem, often called Solomon's Temple, which became a central place of worship for the Israelites. Solomon is renowned for his wisdom, wealth, and extensive building projects. He is traditionally credited as the author of several biblical books, including Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Songs. His reign was marked by peace and prosperity, but toward the end of his life, Solomon's many foreign wives led him to idolatry, which according to biblical accounts, resulted in divine punishment and the eventual division of the kingdom after his death. Solomon's legacy is significant in Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions as a symbol of wisdom and powerful kingship.
