The first Hispanic player in the NFL was Ignacio Saturnino "Lou" Molinet. He played in the NFL in 1927 as a fullback for the Frankford Yellow Jackets. Molinet was born in Cuba in 1904 and played nine games in the 1927 season. His status as the first Hispanic NFL player was confirmed in 2000 when his granddaughter donated his 1927 NFL contract to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which proved he played two years before previously recognized player Jesse Rodriguez, who debuted in 1929. Molinet's contract is now on display in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
