Bobby Beale killed Lucy Beale on the BBC soap opera EastEnders. The reason behind Bobby killing Lucy was that he lashed out in frustration during an argument at home. Bobby hit Lucy with a jewellery box, which caused a fatal head injury. Importantly, Bobby was unaware that he had killed his sister and was emotionally immature. His adoptive mother, Jane Beale, covered up the murder by moving Lucy's body and convincing Bobby that he was not responsible. The storyline explored whether Bobby was evil and the impact on the Beale family as they tried to keep the secret. Eventually, Bobby confessed, was arrested, and sentenced to three years in a young offenders institution for Lucy's murder and an additional year for attacking Jane Beale with a hockey stick. The motive was essentially frustration and a loss of control during a familial confrontation.
