Stephen Fry was in prison as a teenager because he was arrested for credit card fraud. After failing his A-levels, he stole a credit card from a family friend and fled to Swindon, where he was eventually caught and charged with fraud. Fry served three months in Pucklechurch Prison, a youth detention center in South Gloucestershire. During this time, he earned the nickname "The Professor" due to his academic background and helped his cellmate learn to read and write. Following his release, his parents encouraged him to take control of his future, which led him to retake his A-levels and eventually attend Cambridge University, where he began his illustrious career in entertainment and comedy.
