The AFL Grand Final is traditionally played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne, Victoria. This has been the case every year since 1902, except for a few occasions when the MCG was unavailable due to military use during World War II, reconstruction works, or exceptional circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, the 2020 Grand Final was played at The Gabba in Brisbane and the 2021 Grand Final at Optus Stadium in Perth. The MCG is currently contracted to host the AFL Grand Final until 2059. The venue is the largest stadium in Australia with a capacity of 100,024 spectators, making it the natural choice for the event.
For the 2025 AFL Grand Final, it is scheduled to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
