Edmund Kemper, known as the "Co-ed Killer," is an American serial killer who murdered seven women and one girl between May 1972 and April 1973, as well as his grandparents when he was 15. His nickname comes from his victims, most of whom were female college students hitchhiking near Santa Cruz County, California. His crimes involved extreme violence, including necrophilia, decapitation, dismemberment, and possibly cannibalism. After killing his mother and her friend in 1973, he turned himself in to the police. He was found sane, convicted, and sentenced to life imprisonment, where he remains incarcerated.
