There are about 25 blimps left in the world today. Out of these, roughly half are still in active use, mainly for advertising and aerial photography. For example, Goodyear operates some of the most famous blimps, and around 13 advertising blimps are active worldwide. The rarity of blimps comes from advances in technology such as helicopters and drones, which have largely replaced their roles. Additionally, there are relatively few pilots certified to fly blimps, contributing to their scarcity.
