The human heart has four chambers. These include two upper chambers called the right atrium and left atrium, and two lower chambers called the right ventricle and left ventricle
- The right atrium receives oxygen-poor blood from the body and pumps it to the right ventricle.
- The right ventricle pumps this blood to the lungs for oxygenation.
- The left atrium receives oxygen-rich blood from the lungs and sends it to the left ventricle.
- The left ventricle then pumps oxygenated blood throughout the body.
These chambers work together with valves to ensure blood flows in the correct direction, supporting the heart’s function as a dual pump for pulmonary and systemic circulation
