The MLB Wild Card Series is a best-of-three series. This means that each Wild Card Series consists of up to three games, with the first team to win two games advancing to the Division Series. The current format, introduced in 2022, involves three Wild Card teams from each league and the lowest-seeded division winner, totaling eight teams competing in the Wild Card round in each league. The higher seed hosts the series. Usually, most series are decided in two games, but if necessary, a third game is played as a tiebreaker.
