Estimates suggest humans kill on the order of 80–100 million sharks every year, and possibly more when uncertainty is included. This works out to roughly 200,000–270,000 sharks per day, or around 11,000 sharks every hour. Some analyses using wider ranges of fisheries data suggest the true number could be as low as about 60 million or as high as more than 200 million sharks killed annually.
