Here is an easy step‑by‑step way to draw a simple Grinch face:
Step 1: Head shape
- Lightly sketch an oval that is a little wider at the top and slightly pointy at the bottom for the chin.
- Around the sides of the oval, add small zigzag bumps so the outline looks furry, not smooth.
Step 2: Eyes and brows
- Draw a curved line across the upper middle of the face for the brow line, slightly arched in the center.
- On this line, draw two thick, curved eyebrows that tilt down toward the middle to make him look sneaky.
- Under the brows, draw two narrow ovals for the eyes, and small circles inside for pupils, leaving a tiny white spot for shine.
Step 3: Nose and wrinkles
- Between the eyes, draw a small rounded triangle or upside‑down U for the nose.
- Add a short curved line above the nose between the brows, and a couple of tiny wrinkle lines under each eye to give him that grumpy look.
Step 4: Grinch smile
- Start a small vertical line under the nose (this splits the upper lip).
- From the bottom of that line, curve a long smile out to the left and then to the right, ending under each eye, so the smile is wide and a bit crooked.
- Add a short curved line under the smile for the lower lip.
Step 5: Fur and details
- From the outer corners of the smile, draw curved, zigzag lines up to meet the sides of the head for furry cheeks.
- At the top of the head, sketch a loose, wavy line if you want his Santa hat trim, then a simple floppy triangle for the hat.
- Go over your favorite lines with a darker pencil or marker, erase guidelines, and color: light green skin, darker green brows and nose, yellow eyes, red hat, and white hat trim.
If you say what age or level you’re drawing at (kid, beginner, etc.), a version can be simplified even more.
