To repost a story on Instagram, the process depends on whether you have been tagged in the story or not: If you are tagged in the story:
- You will receive a direct message notification from the user who tagged you.
- Open Instagram and go to your messages.
- Tap the story message that mentions you.
- Tap the "Add to Your Story" button.
- Edit the story if you want (add text, stickers, etc.).
- Tap the arrow or "Share" button to repost it to your story
If you are NOT tagged in the story:
- Instagram does not provide a direct way to repost stories you aren't tagged in.
- You can take a screenshot or use a screen recording app to capture the story.
- Then upload the screenshot or recorded video as a new story on your account.
- Crop or edit as needed before posting.
- Remember, links and interactive elements from the original story will not work in this method
Additional tips:
- You can also repost feed posts to your story by tapping the paper airplane (share) icon on the post and selecting "Add to Story," then editing and sharing it
- For reposting your own old stories, go to your Stories Archive in your profile, select the story, tap the three dots, and choose "Share as post" or repost as a story
This method ensures you give proper credit to the original content creator when reposting tagged stories, as Instagram automatically links back to the original user
