Mitosis produces diploid cells, not haploid cells, sperm, or gametes.
What mitosis produces
Mitosis is the type of cell division used for growth, repair, and asexual reproduction, and it results in two genetically identical daughter cells with the same chromosome number as the original cell, which in animals is typically diploid (2n). These daughter cells are usually somatic (body) cells, not sex cells like sperm or eggs.
Haploid cells and gametes
Haploid cells and gametes such as sperm and eggs are produced by meiosis, not mitosis. Meiosis reduces the chromosome number by half, creating haploid gametes that can fuse during fertilization to restore the diploid number.
