To join the Crimson Fleet in Starfield, there are two main methods:
- Get caught committing illegal activities such as stealing or having contraband in United Colonies (UC) space. When arrested, you can agree to go undercover as a mole to infiltrate the Crimson Fleet, which starts their questline.
- Join the UC Vanguard faction first and then accept the undercover mission called "Deep Cover" from Commander Tuala or Commander Kibwe Ikande. This mission also leads to infiltrating the Crimson Fleet.
After starting the "Deep Cover" mission, you will progress to the mission "Rook Meets King" where you officially join the Crimson Fleet upon meeting their leader at their space station base known as The Key in the Kryx system. Joining the Crimson Fleet allows you to dock at their station, sell contraband, and access unique ships and modifications. However, it also means making many enemies and possibly racking up bounties as they are space pirates. In summary, joining the Crimson Fleet is either by getting arrested and going undercover or by joining UC Vanguard and accepting the mission to infiltrate the Fleet, culminating in the "Rook Meets King" mission to officially join them.
