To put your weapon away (holster it) in Starfield, simply press and hold the reload button for about half a second. By default, this is the "R" key on PC or the "X" button on an Xbox controller. Holding this button down will cause your character to holster their weapon smoothly

. To bring the weapon back out, you can tap the reload button again, or press the shoot or aim buttons. Alternatively, you can open the Quick-Keys menu (press "Q" on PC or use the D-Pad on Xbox) and select the weapon or item you want to equip
