In J.R.R. Tolkiens Middle-earth fantasy fiction, Orcs are a race of humanoid monsters, which he also calls "goblin". Orcs were created by the first Dark Lord, Morgoth, who took some Elves from CuiviƩnen and tortured them, beat them, and broke their bodies into the first deformed and twisted beings known as Orcs. Orcs were a race of humanoid creatures best known for their service as foot soldiers and slaves to the Dark Lords of Middle-earth. Orcs were described as smaller in stature than Men on average, strong but crooked in frame and bow-legged. Tolkien used different terms to describe the different types of Orcs, including Uruk-hai, Hobgoblins, and Goblins. The Orcs in The Lord of the Rings are brutish, aggressive, ugly, and malevolent. They are fighting for their survival in the Second Age of Middle-earths history in the upcoming series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
