Though her recovery was slow, by the end of the episode, she regained consciousness and began speaking. The showrunner confirmed that the character was never planned to be written off the show, and her temporary absence was used to explore how the team functions without their central leader. Meanwhile, a different major character died in the Season 8 premiere, but it was not Isobel.
