• Requesters: A Requester is a company, organization, or person that creates and submits tasks (HITs) to MTurk for Workers to perform.

• Workers: Workers are individuals who complete HITs in exchange for payment.

MTurk offers a way to effectively manage labor and overhead costs associated with hiring and managing a workforce. MTurk is a subsidiary of Amazon.com, and as such, it follows the same information security practices as Amazon. Before submitting HITs to the MTurk marketplace, Requesters need to prepay for them with a credit or debit card. Once HITs have been completed, they will be available for Requesters via several mechanisms. They can log on to the MTurk website and view the submitted work, and they can also download all of their completed work via the web services APIs. After Requesters have received the results and have verified the quality of the work, they can approve the work and submit payment to the Workers.
