Jujutsu Kaisen is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Gege Akutami. The title is written with two kanji characters, "ju" and "jutsu," which respectively mean "curse" or "sorcery" and "art" or "technique". The second word, "kaisen," is written with the kanji characters "kai" and "sen," which mean "to rotate" or "circle around" and "battle" respectively. The direct English translation for Jujutsu Kaisen is "Sorcery Fight," but it can also be translated as "Battle of Curses". The story follows high school student Yuji Itadori as he joins a secret organization of Jujutsu Sorcerers to eliminate a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna, of whom Yuji becomes the host.
