The Haunted Mansion ride is an original ride that did not come from a movie, but there have been several movies and specials inspired by the ride. The ride is a dark ride attraction located at Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, and Tokyo Disneyland. The Disneyland Haunted Mansion was largely inspired by the Shipley-Lydecker House in Baltimore, Maryland, pictured in Decorative Art of Victoria’s Era, a book found in the Walt Disney Imagineering Information Research Center in Glendale, California. Each location differs slightly in design, utilizing a range of technology from centuries-old theatrical effects to modern special effects, including spectral Audio-Animatronics. The ride features a ride-through tour in Omnimover vehicles called "Doom Buggies," and a walk-through show is displayed to riders waiting in the queue line. The Haunted Mansion inspired two similarly themed attractions, Phantom Manor and Mystic Manor, which exist at Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland, respectively. The Haunted Mansion ride at Disney World starts off with scenes of staircases and a library that do not appear in Disneyland. The Haunted Mansion ride has a completely different brick exterior and has additional scenes. The Haunted Mansion ride has been replicated in some form at every Disney resort.
