According to multiple sources, only about 5% of the ocean has been explored and charted by humans. This means that the vast majority of the ocean, especially its depths, remains unknown and unseen by our eyes. While some progress has been made in mapping the seafloor using modern high-resolution technology, such as multibeam sonar systems, only about 24.9% of the global seafloor had been mapped as of 2023. It is important to continue exploring and studying the ocean to learn more about its biological, chemical, physical, geological, and archaeological aspects, and to preserve it for future generations.
