Jimmy Carter is the longest-living president in American history, having celebrated his 98th birthday on October 1, 2022. He surpassed the previous record holder, George H.W. Bush, on March 22, 2019, when he reached the age of 94 years and 172 days. Carter left the White House more than four decades ago and has held the record of oldest living president since Bush Sr.s death in November 2018.
