Several US coins feature the images of former presidents. Here is a list of the presidents on standard coins:
- Penny: Abraham Lincoln
- Nickel: Thomas Jefferson
- Dime: Franklin D. Roosevelt
- Quarter: George Washington
- Half-dollar: John F. Kennedy
The US Mint began issuing the presidential dollar coin in 2007, depicting each president of the United States in the order they served. The program was suspended in 2011, but the coins are still available for purchase. The back of each coin bears an engraving of the Statue of Liberty.
Other notable figures on US coins include Lady Liberty, the Marines of Iwo Jima, and the bald eagle. Additionally, there were other large denominations (no longer produced) that once carried the portraits of presidents, including William McKinley, Grover Cleveland, James Madison, and Woodrow Wilson.
