Chris Kaba was a 24-year-old Black man who worked in construction and was also a rapper under the alias Madix or Mad Itch. On September 5, 2022, he was driving an Audi car in a residential street in Streatham Hill, in south east London, when he was shot in the head and killed by a police officer. The officer who shot him was charged with murder on September 21, 2023, following a review of evidence provided by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) . Kabas death resulted in protests in the Black community, with his family leading a rally and calling for an investigation to be dealt with swiftly. The IOPC lead investigator confirmed that Kaba was not a suspect and was being followed by a police car without lights or sirens before he was shot dead by a firearms officer.
