Tay-K was initially locked up after being apprehended on July 28, 2016, just a day after the fatal home invasion incident in Mansfield, Texas, that resulted in the death of 21-year-old Ethan Walker. He was released on house arrest in January 2017 but subsequently cut off his ankle monitor and went on the run. He was captured by U.S. marshals on June 30, 2017, in New Jersey after three months of evading authorities. Tay-K was convicted of murder in 2019 and sentenced to 55 years in prison. Later, in April 2025, he was found guilty of a second murder charge related to an incident in 2017 and received an additional 80-year sentence, to be served concurrently with the first.
