Some HBO shows are already on Netflix in limited form, and more are expected over the next 1–2 years, but there is no single date when “all HBO shows” will arrive on Netflix.
What’s on Netflix now
Since 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery has licensed a selection of older HBO and Max series to Netflix in various countries. Examples include:
- Insecure, Ballers, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Six Feet Under, True Blood, Sex and the City, Warrior, and Scavengers Reign (availability and dates vary by region).
These titles stream on Netflix and usually remain on Max at the same time, since the deals are “co-exclusive” rather than moving shows off HBO/Max entirely.
Future HBO shows on Netflix
Warner Bros. (including HBO and Max) is being acquired by Netflix in a large deal that is expected to take 12–18 months to close, subject to regulators. Until that deal is completed, HBO/Max and Netflix will stay separate services, and only selected HBO/Max titles will continue to be licensed to Netflix.
After the acquisition closes, industry reporting expects more HBO and Max shows to be folded into Netflix over time, possibly via bundles or by integrating much of the HBO/Max library into the Netflix app, but not every single title is guaranteed and no full schedule has been announced.
What you can do now
- Check Netflix in your country for HBO-branded series like Insecure or Sex and the City, as the catalog is region-specific.
- Expect more HBO and Max shows to arrive gradually over the next couple of years rather than on one specific date, especially if and when the Warner Bros. acquisition is approved and finalized.
