Amelia Island is a barrier island in Nassau County, in the northeastern corner of Florida. It is the northernmost of Florida’s Sea Islands and lies off the coast near Fernandina Beach, about 30 miles (roughly 48 km) north of Jacksonville. The island is known for its historic district in Fernandina Beach, scenic beaches, Fort Clinch State Park, and a laid-back coastal atmosphere.
