National Youth Day in India is celebrated annually on January 12th. This day marks the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a great Hindu monk and philosopher, whose teachings and ideals are a source of inspiration for Indian youth. The Government of India declared January 12 as National Youth Day in 1984, and since 1985, it has been observed with various activities in schools and colleges across the country such as processions, speeches, youth conventions, seminars, and competitions to motivate and inspire the youth in alignment with Vivekananda's philosophy.
