Radio City Music Hall is owned and operated by Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. (MSG Entertainment), a publicly traded company controlled by the Dolan family.
Ownership History
The venue, part of Rockefeller Center, was originally developed in 1932 by the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) and John D. Rockefeller Jr. as a flagship entertainment space. In 1997, it was leased to Cablevision (predecessor to MSG Entertainment) for 25 years to fund renovations and operations, including the Rockettes and Christmas Spectacular. MSG Entertainment has managed the theater since, with ongoing investments like a 2025 audio system upgrade from Sphere technology.
Current Operations
MSG Entertainment oversees bookings, productions, and maintenance at Radio City, which seats nearly 6,000 and hosts concerts, events, and the annual holiday show. The company also operates other venues like Madison Square Garden and the Beacon Theatre, generating revenue through live entertainment and media. While the building's land remains under Rockefeller Center ownership, MSG Entertainment holds operational control through long-term leases.
