Migraines typically last between 4 hours and 3 days. The headache phase alone can range from 4 to 72 hours, but considering all phases—prodrome, aura, headache, and postdrome—a migraine attack may last from a bit over one day to up to a week in rare cases. Most commonly, migraines last about 1 to 2 days. Untreated migraines usually last 1 or 2 days, and some people may experience symptoms like fatigue or mood changes even after the headache pain ends. There is a severe form called status migrainosus where a migraine lasts more than 72 hours, which might require emergency care.
