Sam Bailey was an Australian quadriplegic farmer, ultralight pilot, author, and inspirational speaker whose life story epitomized resilience and determination. At 19, he became a quadriplegic after a car accident in the Northern Territory that severed his spinal cord. Despite this, he pursued his passion for farming by adapting equipment and eventually took up flying ultralight planes. He proposed to his wife Jenny live on regional radio, and together they became public speakers and co-authors of the book "Head Over Heels." Sam worked toward becoming the world's first quadriplegic helicopter pilot. He passed away suddenly in September 2025 at the age of 58, but he left a lasting legacy as a true Australian example of grit and positivity in the face of adversity. He was also an ambassador for the Sargood Foundation, supporting people with spinal cord injuries and their families.
