Sam Bailey was a quadriplegic farmer and ultralight pilot who became an inspirational figure after a car accident at 19 left him with a C6/C7 spinal cord injury. Despite his disability, he adapted farm machinery to continue his work as a beef cattle farmer on his family farm in North West New South Wales. He also learned to fly ultralight planes and was working to become the world's first quadriplegic helicopter pilot before his sudden death at age 58 in 2025. Sam was also a best-selling author, public speaker, and advocate for people with spinal cord injuries. He was married to Jenny Bailey, a former ABC rural reporter, and together they shared their story widely to inspire others.
