A KUB ultrasound is a diagnostic medical imaging technique of the abdomen that stands for Kidneys, Ureters, and Bladder. It is a non-invasive and painless examination requested by a doctor to evaluate the urinary tract, including the kidneys, ureters, and urinary bladder. During the ultrasound examination, a highly qualified and experienced Sonographer will move a transducer lubricated with warm gel over the lower abdomen to obtain the necessary images. The examination is used to look for changes in the bladder wall, kidney size or structure, stones in the urinary tract, and to evaluate reasons for recurrent kidney infections. In male patients, the prostate gland is also scanned. The KUB ultrasound examination is safe and painless, and a written report of the findings will be provided, with images where necessary to demonstrate abnormal findings.
