Flanders is a region located in the northern part of Belgium. It is one of the three official regions of Belgium and mainly Dutch-speaking. Flanders comprises five provinces: Antwerp, East Flanders, Flemish Brabant, Limburg, and West Flanders. It borders the Netherlands to the north, the North Sea to the northwest, Wallonia to the south, and the Brussels-Capital Region, which is an enclave within Flanders. The region is characterized by flat terrain and is historically rich and economically significant. The city of Brussels, though geographically within Flanders, is administratively separate and serves as the capital of Belgium and also the Flemish Region in a cultural and political sense.
