Demaryius Thomas, former NFL wide receiver, died on December 9, 2021, at age 33 due to complications from a seizure disorder. He was found deceased in his home in Roswell, Georgia. According to the Fulton County Medical Examiner's autopsy report, Thomas had a history of seizure issues, which likely contributed to his death. It was unclear whether the seizures were caused by natural factors or were related to head impacts sustained during his football career. Thomas had also been posthumously diagnosed with Stage 2 chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a brain condition linked to repeated head trauma, but experts determined CTE was not the direct cause of his seizure disorder or death. The manner of death was officially classified as undetermined, and it is believed Thomas likely died from suffocation following a seizure. He had also suffered a serious car accident in 2019 that may have contributed to his seizure condition. Traces of nicotine and marijuana were found in his system but were not considered factors in his death.
