The capital of Gujarat is Gandhinagar. It is located approximately 23 km north of Ahmedabad, on the west central point of the Industrial corridor between the metropolitan cities of Delhi and Mumbai. Gandhinagar was established as the capital of Gujarat in 1970, after the state was created out of the 17 northern districts of the former State of Bombay. Ahmedabad was the capital of Gujarat from 1960 to 1970.
